I've Tried To Be Patient, Part II

As I noted in my post of August 4 of this year, the nation is fed up with Republican obstructionism. The latest partisan, political crap is playing chicken with the country's economy by stonewalling renewed funding of unemployment payments and extending the payroll tax cut. A majority of economists have said that the payroll tax cut helps the U.S. economy. But the Congress (specifically the House) must think it's more important to get elected than bring this country out of the recession/depression. They'd rather give tax cuts to the top 4% than the other 96%. Even though a majority of the nation's wealthiest, by a wide margin, are in favor of being taxed more. What it amounts to is: taxation without representation. Sound familiar? Yeah, we didn't care for that 230 or so years ago, either.

I've Tried To Be Patient...

Okay. After almost 2 years since my last post—and with the shenanigans and jackassery occurring in Our Nation's Capitol this last week—I had to write something.

There's a lot of Democrat anger over the debt-ceiling discussion/hostage-taking/denouement and I think these Huffington Post articles say it best: America got screwed. The only saving grace at this point is that nothing is enacted until 2013. In other words, after elections. So there's hope yet. Not much. mind you, if the Dems buy into the Repub bull about "government spending."

Voting is important, more than ever. Vote Democrat, or be prepared for the death of the middle class.

Oh, PS: Happy Birthday, Mr. President!

I'm Back, Baby!

Howdy! Wow, I haven't posted here since 09/06?! That's when the Dems were voted back in to stop the creeping crud of the Neo-Cons! And now it's a whole new ballgame!

But the fight goes on. Instead of accepting their defeat with manly, humble pride and helping America get "back on its feet" after the disastrous policies of the last 8 years, the corrupt cheerleaders of the last administration decided to be Obstructors and hamper Pres. Obama's every attempt to clean up their mess.

Here's an examination of the Extreme Right's mouthpieces' latest tricks, on Huffington Post. And why do we hear the cries of "liberal media" constantly? The mainstream media is almost totally swayed toward the E.R. position.

I'll be back for more later. Count on it!

Wasteful Spending in Iraq

Ever wonder why Iraq seems to be in a worse state than before The War was started by the Bush Administration? Check out this story from The Washington Post detailing the hiring practices and priorities of the administration, and it won't be difficult to see how $18 billion went missing.

"Lie By Lie" Timeline

Mother Jones magazine has published a timeline of the string of lies from the Bush administration leading up to the illegal war in Iraq. Now they've published it online. It's a scrupulously researched and documented piece that exposes, all in one place, the perfidy, falsehood and misdirection of this corrupt government's justification for their imperialistic and corporate-led atrocity. View it NOW! Remember it when you VOTE!

Men think they think upon the great political questions, and they do; but they think with their party, not independently; they read its literature, but not that of the other side. -- Mark Twain

Loose Change 911

Check out this documentary at www.loosechange.com. If you've ever suspected that the government had a hand in 9/11, this is the doc for you. If you had no inkling at all that the government's explanation was anything but true, this will convince you otherwise. In any case, you can't walk away from this film without being intensely angry. For whatever reason.

Be sure to search the Internet for opposing points of view. There are many "debunking" sites online that try to prove that certain points in this movie's arguments are crazy, paranoid, or just plain wrong. So far, the points I've seen debunked are minor factual errors at best, but the documentary's main thesis still holds up. Decide for yourself.

Ours is the “land of the free”—nobody denies that—nobody challenges it. (Maybe it is because we won't let other people testify.) -- Mark Twain
